More than half a year has elapsed since I drove home the 2025 Ram 1500 RHO, and astonishingly, I no longer pine for the guttural theatrics of a V8. As the inaugural “sport truck” in my personal fleet, the RHO has been both an adrenaline-charged indulgence and an illuminating experiment. Whether traversing off-road trails, embarking on extended road trips, or towing with confidence, this machine has consistently surpassed my expectations.

At its heart lies the high-output 3.0-liter Hurricane twin-turbo inline-six, delivering a robust 540 horsepower and 521 lb-ft of torque. While it cannot replicate the operatic growl of the outgoing TRX’s supercharged V8, it compensates with velvety smoothness and ferocity in spades. Coupled with 35-inch tires, Bilstein Blackhawk E2 shocks, and launch control, the RHO is engineered not just for speed but for sheer exhilaration. Indeed, in dune conditions, it often feels quicker and more precise than the vaunted TRX, all while returning better fuel economy and commanding a more palatable price point.

Step inside, and the RHO marries performance flair with indulgent comfort. Massaging leather seats, a panoramic moonroof, and thoughtful storage solutions elevate the cabin to a near-luxurious realm. The sport shifter proves infinitely more engaging than Ram’s traditional dial, while accessories from protective films and floor mats to a retractable tonneau cover and alarm system have transformed it into a versatile, well-protected companion.

Admittedly, imperfections persist. The passenger-side infotainment screen borders on ornamental, the Hurricane engine’s dipstick-free design remains puzzling, and the power tailgate falters on occasion. The arduous upkeep of its white paint further tests one’s patience. Yet these quibbles pale against the broader reality: the RHO is audacious, over-the-top, and deliriously fun.

At $72,000 discounts included, the Ram 1500 RHO is a gloriously impractical yet irresistibly joyous acquisition. Six months in, it is not merely a truck, but a statement of unrepentant automotive exuberance.
