At this year’s Cannes showcase, Azimut Yachts unveiled a bold evolution of its celebrated Magellano series, a lineage that has, since 2009, redefined the trawler segment with its blend of range, refinement, and resilience. The newest chapter, the Mangellano 27M, represents not just an incremental update but a philosophical reset, positioning itself as a minimalist explorer for a new generation of owners who value substance over spectacle.

The journey began with the pioneering Magallano 74, which married with elegance in a market rooted in tradition. A decade later, the 25 metri injected contemporary flair with its elongated form and tender garage, followed by the 30M’s elevation into superyacht territory. Now, the 27 M strips away excess, offering a foot vessel that is resolutely purposeful, transoceanic in spirit, and built around the notion of freedom.

Azimut chair Giovana Vitelli described it aptly as a regeneration of megellano’s DNA. The yacht’s design accentuates long-range cruising with expansive decks, an indoor-outdoor flow, and a retractable swim platform, creating spaces as welcoming at anchor as they are in passage. The hallmark dual mode hull-semi planning with a vertical bow remains central, engineered to deliver both stability at low speeds and efficiency at higher RPMs. Federico Lantero, Azimut’s head of product design, anticipates sea trials will demonstrate fuel savings of up to 30 percent, underscoring the brand's commitment to sustainable innovation.

Externally, Finnish designer Jarkko Jamsen lends a bold architectural language his sweeping loop, which encircles the vessel, stripping superfluous flourishes in favor of industrial purity. The result is a yacht that embodies strength, clarity, and understated confidence, equally at home skimming Norway’s fjords or charting the Bahamas.

The Magellona 27M is not just a yacht, it is a manifesto of purposeful exploration, signaling a new era in Azimut’s visionary seafaring legacy.
